The Victron EnergyPhoenix 12/30 2 + 1 120-240v battery charger  has a customizable battery management system. It is controlled by a microprocessor that can be configured for different types of battery. Its adaptable functions automatically optimizes the process based on the use of the batteries. 4-stage variable load system: Bulk – Absorption – float – storage

The right amount of load: variable absorption time

When the discharge is low the absorption charge phase is shortened in order to avoid a battery overload. After a deep discharge, the absorption charge time increases automatically to ensure that the battery is fully recharged.

Prevention of damage caused by excessive gassing: BatterySafe mode (see fig. 2 below)

If, in order to charge a battery quickly, a combination of high load current with a high absorption voltage has been chosen, the Phoenix charger will prevent damage due to excessive gassing, automatically limiting the rate of increase of voltage a Once the gassing voltage has been reached (see the load curve between 14, 4V and 15, 0V in Fig. 2 below).

Less aging and maintenance when the battery is not in use: Storage mode

The storage mode is activated when the battery has not been unloaded within 24 hours. In the storage mode, the float voltage is reduced to 2.2 V/cell (13.2 V for 12 V batteries) to reduce gassing and corrosion of the positive plates. Once a week, the voltage is re-raised to the level of absorption to "match" the battery. This function avoids the stratification of the electrolyte and the sulfate, the main causes of the failures in the batteries.

For longer battery life: temperature compensation

All Phoenix chargers come with battery temperature sensor. When connected, the charging voltage will automatically decrease as the battery temperature increases. This feature is especially recommended for sealed batteries and/or when large temperature fluctuations are expected in the battery.

Battery voltage probe

To compensate for voltage loss due to cable strength, the Phoenix Chargers have a voltage probe function so that the battery always receives the proper charging voltage. Universal input Voltage range: 90-265V AC and also suitable for DC power supply

The Chargers will accept a power supply 90-400V CC.

Computer interface

All Phoenix chargers are ready to communicate with a computer through their RS-485 data port. Together with our VEConfigure software, which can be downloaded free of charge from the www.victronenergy.com website, and the MK1b data cable (see accessories), all the parameters of the Chargers can be customized.
